Docker is a platform for containerizing applications. Flux is a GitOps tool for Kubernetes that automatically deploys and synchronizes applications and infrastructure from a Git repository to a Kubernetes cluster. The project is hosted by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and is officially called Flux (GitOps toolkit) or often FluxCD. Here, configurations are saved in the Git repository, Flux monitors the repository and changes are automatically applied in the cluster. This makes deployment reproducible, traceable and automated. GitOps is an operating and deployment approach for infrastructure and applications in which Git serves as the central source of truth. All configurations for systems - e.g. infrastructure, containers or Kubernetes - are stored in a Git repository and automatically applied to the target systems. GitOps is an operating model in which infrastructure and applications are described in Git, changes are made via pull requests, a tool automatically applies the target state to systems and the system continuously synchronizes with Git. This results in reproducible deployments, secure infrastructure management and automated operations.
